The best beaches in Marbella: a guide from the Golden Mile to Cabopino

Marbella has more than 25 kilometres of coastline, and each stretch has its own character: town beaches with every service, quiet corners with dunes and pine woods, and beach-club areas where you can spend the whole day. Here are our favourites, from west to east.

Guadalmina (San Pedro Alcántara)

Quiet, family-friendly and with clean water. A great choice if you're staying in San Pedro or Nueva Andalucía and want to avoid the busier Puerto Banús scene.

Puerto Banús

Right next to the famous marina, with sun loungers, restaurants and beach clubs. Ideal for combining the beach with a stroll among the yachts and some shopping. In summer it's lively from mid-morning.

Nagüeles and the Golden Mile

Between Puerto Banús and the town centre, in front of some of Marbella's best-known hotels. Wide sand, quality beach bars and an elegant, relaxed atmosphere.

La Venus and La Fontanilla (town centre)

Marbella's town beaches, a short walk from the old town and the promenade. Perfect if you want the beach in the morning, lunch in town and an afternoon stroll around Plaza de los Naranjos.

Cabopino and the Artola dunes

Our favourite spot in East Marbella. The Artola dunes are a protected natural area with wooden boardwalks and a landscape unlike anywhere else on the coast. Next door, the small port of Cabopino has charming restaurants.

Tips for enjoying Marbella's beaches

Arrive early in July and August if you want a sun lounger on the most popular beaches.
Try the espetos, sardines grilled on a skewer at a beach bar: the coast's signature dish.
Sunsets: the western beaches (Puerto Banús, Guadalmina) have beautiful sunsets.
With children, the town-centre and San Pedro beaches are usually the easiest for facilities and access.
